The Met.N salon brand, centered on enhancing partner value, established its roots in the Banqiao Fuzhong business district in 2018. Over five years, the founder Nico faced plenty of criticism but turned mockery into motivation. Staying true to her principles and original vision, Nico ultimately broke through. In early 2023, she opened the Yongan Branch in Zhonghe, a nearly 100-ping multipurpose salon, providing a more comfortable environment for stylists and clients to connect.

The Met.N Yongan Branch is located in a tranquil residential area in Zhonghe. The first floor houses a café and the Fragrant Encounter Space, which offers venue rentals, while the second floor is home to the Met.N Hair Salon for hairstyling services. When asked about the concept of a multipurpose salon, Nico, with her sharp business acumen, explained: "With the rise of social media, KOLs need better venues for sponsored shoots, small events, or corporate meetings. The Fragrant Encounter Space caters to these needs. Plus, if anyone gets hungry during their visit, the café is right there to satisfy their cravings."

The Fragrant Encounter Space offers three areas for rental: A, B, and C. The largest, Area A, is the Academy Zone, a 35 square meters space that accommodates up to 80 people. It features large glass mirrors and a private makeup room, making it suitable for lectures, beauty industry workshops, and yoga or dance classes. Area B is the Photography Studio Zone, a 10 square meters space that accommodates 5–20 people. It includes props for staging and shooting, ideal for commercial photography and influencer live streams. Area C is the Café and Light Dining Space, a 15 square meters area that accommodates up to 30 people, perfect for tea parties, small discussion meetings, and themed parties.

From doubts to success: 5 years of triumph

In the early days of her business, Nico faced significant criticism when she decided to lease a two-story space (B1/1F) in Banqiao’s Fuzhong area. Many doubted her decision, with comments like, "This is a prime location—can you afford it?" and "Who would go to a basement for a haircut?" Such skepticism only fueled Nico’s determined spirit. Having just emerged from a difficult period in her life, she adopted a mindset of having nothing to lose and resolved to work even harder to prove her doubters wrong. With this resilience, she pushed forward and achieved her goals.

To survive, a business must first make money, and this is every owner’s primary challenge. After overcoming initial hurdles, Nico set her sights on enhancing the value of each stylist. In the fiercely competitive hairdressing industry, Nico has firmly rejected price wars. She isn’t afraid of losing customers; instead, she worries about setting prices too low, which would devalue the stylists' professional expertise. Lower prices would force stylists to take on more clients in a single day to meet performance targets, compromising the quality of service for customers and eroding the stylists' sense of value and identity over time.

Staying true to her philosophy of "coexistence and mutual benefit," Nico is hands-on in communicating with and understanding each team member. From starting with just four team members during the salon's early days, Met.N has grown to a team of 20 loyal partners. Nico proudly states, "I’m incredibly proud; these people are my greatest achievement."

The name Met.N begins with "Met," derived from "Meet," symbolizing encounters, and is combined with owner Nico's "N," making the full name Met.N Hair Salon, which can be translated in Chinese as "Encountering Nico". Nico further explains that the "t" also represents a tree: "I love trees; to me, a big tree symbolizes strength and resilience, standing tall and unwavering. The 'n' also conveys the idea of never giving up." Nico has infused her personal resilience into the Met.N brand, with the name representing her philosophy: "I am like a big tree, protecting all my team members."
