Located in Taichung’s Beitun District, MIM.Salon strives to be the most beautiful salon in all of Taichung. With its unique, comfortable interior design and hairstylists’ distinctive coloring techniques, the salon has gained a loyal clientele in just six months since its opening. From the moment you arrive at MIM, the white walls and drought-tolerant plants at the entrance catch your eye. Instead of converting the space into a parking area, the team opted for a visually pleasing landscape. Maruko explains that, unlike the usual leafy plants often used in landscaping, the founder chose cacti and other drought-tolerant plants because the entrance doesn’t receive much sunlight, making these plants easier to maintain. This design also reflects the founder's consideration for the staff. Maruko laughs, "Our boss is very thoughtful—this way, no one has to sweep up fallen leaves!"

MIM philosophy

Naming is often the most challenging task before a new venture begins. It must be meaningful, as it represents a person, a brand, and the beliefs it aims to convey. Before MIM opened, its founder, Megan, went through the same dilemma. She considered a variety of names—unique, ordinary, even humorous—but none felt right.

After reflecting, Megan returned to the core of why she wanted to open a salon: "Life is short, so we should do things that bring us joy and learn to cherish every moment. Each memory, good or bad, is significant because it represents the effort and perseverance we’ve put into living with our own hands." With this in mind, Megan drew inspiration from her own name, starting with the letter "M." Her vision was centered around herself, leading to the words Me, I, My, all representing the concept of "self." Every action we take is an effort to create the life we desire. Although composed of three simple letters, the name holds profound meaning. When folded in half, MIM becomes a mirror image of itself, symbolizing how "the only person we should compare ourselves to is ourselves." It also serves as a reminder to stay true to one’s original intentions. Through her firm gaze and words, MIM's manager, Maruko, passionately conveys this philosophy to everyone who visits.
